The Rivet Capiz Shell Chandelier gives a bright light and has real shells. The chandelier itself is almost 14" in diameter and the height can be varied between about 19.5" to 61.5" in height.
The chandelier comes with mounting hardware, 4 bulbs with glass covers, electric cables, silver extension rods and silver base plate, and capiz shell strands. You can vary the height of the chandelier by using the desired number of extension rods. Also, note that the silver base plate rod had a hinge so the chandelier can be mounted on an angled ceiling.
Installation was straightforward, though I did have to run to the hardware store because the included screws were too long for my ceiling electric box. The tedious part is hanging the shell strands. There are three concentric circles of strands of varying heights that must hang from the metal chandelier rings. You should hang the longest strands (5 shells each) in the center ring, next the strands of 4 shells, and finally the strands of 3 shells on the outermost ring. These are real shells, not plastic, so you need to be careful when hanging each strand. In fact, my wife was much better at that because she had smaller hands and could work with the strands without breaking them. Luckily, no shells arrived broken and no shells were broken during our installation. Also, there was one extra long strand, perhaps included in case one breaks during installation. As a bonus, the shells make pleasant wind-chime-like sounds while hanging the strands.
Once completed, the chandelier was visually nicer than I expected from the pictures. This chandelier can go into a more formal room, but the diameter of the chandelier suggests it will look better in medium rooms (about 14’ x 11’).
The light produced is bright and works on a dimming circuit. All in all, this is a very nice chandelier–it’s worth the tedium of having to hang each individual shell strand.
