The DHP Bailey Microfiber Upholstered Futon is an attractive informal couch or love seat that also folds into a bed. Oh, and it’s also very firm.
The futon arrives in a large box—I would suggest having two people to unbox and move the couch into position.
The couch requires minimal assembly—you just need to attach the silver legs on the bottom of the couch. When you unbox the couch, the legs, bolts, and hex key are located in a zippered compartment on the couch bottom. The couch has pre-drilled holes, so to attach the legs just line up the holes and tighten the bolts. Once assembled, we found the couch to be a nice informal couch. The microfibre upholstery is soft, but be warned that it attracts lint and cat hair like crazy.
The couch is quite configurable (teens would love it). Each arm rest folds flat, or can individually be raised to one of several angles. Also, the back of the couch is split into two sections, and each section can also be raised to one of several angles. With the back up and arms down, the sitting area is 70.5" x 21", but with the back up and arms up, the sitting area is only 44.5" x 21", which is more of a love seat. With the back and arms down, there is a 70.5" x 44" sleeping area.
While the main feature of the futon is its configurability, you should also keep in mind that this couch is very firm. Though the Amazon description boasts of a 7" pillow, in reality the pillow that sits on top of the box frame is less than 3". This is not one of those big, puffy couches that you sink into when watching television. Note that the couch sitting area is about 18" off the ground.
So overall, the DHP Bailey Microfiber Upholstered Futon is an informal couch/bed that is very configurable and the microfibre upholstery is soft, but it is firm. We got used to its firmness, but it might not be for everyone.
