So one nice surprise is that I recently found out I’m now among the elite of all Top Amazon Reviewers–at the time I looked I was #964 out of 10,000 Amazon Top Reviewers and out of probably hundreds of thousands of Amazon Reviewers in general.
Note that there are an unknown number of people who review Amazon products–probably hundreds of thousands of people, and maybe even more. Anyone who has left a review of some item on Amazon is an Amazon reviewer, so you can imagine that there are many, many of these people. Well, of all those reviewers, Amazon considers the 10,000 reviewers with the highest rank–based on # of reviews and # of helpful votes by other people reading the reviews–to be Top Reviewers. Of those 10,000 Top Reviewers, Amazon awards an extra label on their profiles if they are in the Top 1000 of all Amazon reviewers–these are the toppamost of the poppamost of reviewers!
And so now, to some amazement, I’ve broken into these top ranks of Top Amazon Reviewers. If you’d like, you can see my Amazon profile here.
I got started reviewing Amazon purchases just for fun. I had been reviewing these items anyway on my blog, but I decided to put my reviews on Amazon as well. Nothing serious–I just enjoyed helping people make good purchase decisions, and I never expected anything to come of my efforts.
But over time people started liking my reviews–on an Amazon product page you can indicate whether or not you liked someone’s review by clicking “Yes” next to “Was this review helpful to you”. Sometimes people would even send me emails to thank me for my reviews or to ask me questions about various products.
I really appreciate the feedback–it makes all the time and effort I put into writing up a review worthwhile when people find value in what I’m saying. This is why it is important to click “Yes” to indicate that you liked a review–whether it is my review or not–because that gives the reviewer feedback and helps motivate them to continue writing more reviews.
I should point out that I get no money from Amazon for writing these reviews, and I have received no bonus check for becoming a Top Amazon Reviewer. There is no real reward other than other people telling me that my review was helpful. This feedback means a lot to me though–it encourages me to keep spending the time and effort reviewing different products.
However, if you would like to thank me even more for my reviews, you could always use this link when shopping on Amazon–it doesn’t cost you anything, and when you click on my link and then purchase something on Amazon, Amazon gives me a few cents as a referral fee. All those cents add up, and so using my link when shopping on Amazon would really help me out.
So either way, thanks for liking my reviews and thanks for your support!
I guess now I should stop talking-about-reviewing and get back to writing actual reviews!
