Support My Public-Facing Work

In addition to my academic work at Virginia Tech, I also believe it is important, especially in today’s world, to engage with as many people as possible in the public domain about understanding, analyzing, and critiquing innovative and emerging technologies that are increasingly having negative impacts society. The stakes are just too high.

I do this through a number of channels and modes:

  • TechnoSlipstream Newsletter: More casual and personal, here I share life updates, news and events, books I’m reading, updates from my work at Virginia Tech, and other happenings.
  • Pseudodragon Newsletter: More serious, here I share deeper writings about the impacts of technology in society.
  • TechnoSlipstream Podcast: Here is an audio version of similar content as in the Pseudodragon Newsletter.
  • My YouTube Channel: Here I share both personal videos (eg, travel), educational (eg, technology reviews), and serious (video discussions about technology and its impact on society).
  • Patreon: Behind the scenes and additional content shared with supporters but not made public.
  • kendallgiles.com: My own server and home on the Internet.

That’s a lot of content I’m trying to create, especially to help those interested in understanding technology and society. I’d like to eventually get to a point where I can host content on my own server instead of the multitude of above platforms–I’d especially like to not have to use platforms like Substack and Patreon. Unfortunately hosting my own content costs $, and so I would appreciate your support so I can continue creating content and building towards that self-hosting move.

One way to do this would be to sign up for a paid subscription to the TechnoSlipstream Newsletter. Another way would be to become a Patron on Patreon. Final donation options include:

Pay what you want–anything will help and everything will be greatly appreciated–it all goes towards my efforts to helps us better understand and live with complex technologies in our lives that increasingly have unknown consequences and impacts!
