Comfortable leather recliners are expensive. However, the Ravenna Faux Leather Recliner is a surprisingly comfortable faux leather alternative as long as you don’t need to move the chair too often.
When you take the pieces from the box, be sure to remove the white bag tied to the underneath of the chair–this bag contains the four chair legs.
In all, the chair comes unassembled in eight pieces and instructions are included. Basically the legs screw into the underneath of the recliner base, the chair back slides onto rails on the back of the chair, and the two wings slide onto rails on the sides of the chair back. Full assembly took maybe five minutes and no extra tools are needed. Though that the chair back and wings simply slide onto rails–they do not click or lock into place. This means that if you try to pick up the chair by lifting the wings or chair back, the chair may fall apart. The best way to lift and move the chair is with two people, each lifting the chair from the bottom.
Assembled, the chair looks very nice. The brown faux leather is smooth and I found no obvious flaws.
The stitching is unbroken, though one wing had an imperfectly formed crease where the wing curves.
Underneath the chair is open–this is important if you have pets that might want to crawl into the chair.
Similarly, the lower portion of the chair back is a flap of material that is not attached to the chair, meaning pets or small children can try to crawl inside easily.
The overall chair dimensions are 37"L x 29.9"W x 42.9"H. This is a “normal”-sized chair that I found to be very comfortable. Some recliners are oversized and overstuffed–this chair is not.
All in all I found the Ravenna Faux Leather Recliner to be attractive and comfortable–once you move the chair into its final location by lifting the chair from the bottom.
