If you are looking for a mini fridge for your office, dorm room, basement, or garage, this Proctor Silex Mini Fridge makes getting drinks or snacks very convenient.
The overall outer dimensions are about 18 7/8" W x 33 1/16" H x 20 5/8" D. One particularly nice feature of this fridge is the separate freezer compartment. I also liked that this fridge is rather quiet: around 54 dB, measured about a foot from the compressor. The door hinge is reversible and the front feet are adjustable.
The back of the fridge is closed except for the compressor compartment at the bottom.
The fridge came with a white plastic tray, but the manual didn’t mention where it goes. The only place it seemed to fit is on top of the compressor. This seems to be the logical place for the tray because there is a small drain tube from the freezer compartment near the compressor, for drainage when defrosting. When the tray is positioned as shown in my picture, the water would drain into the tray.
The separate freezer compartment is full width. One thing to note is that the fridge did not come with ice trays, so if you want ice, you’ll need to provide trays yourself. Manual defrost. The usable space is about 14.5" W x 7" H x 13.5" D.
The freezer door has one fixed retaining bar.
The main refrigerator compartment holds 3.1 cubic feet. There are two removable glass shelves and one plastic drawer for holding vegetables or fruit. The main compartment has an interior light as well as an adjustable thermostat control.
The side door of the refrigerator compartment has three sections. One of the sections is exclusively for cans, which for me is limiting.
The manual that came with the fridge is very minimal–it did not explain anything about the drip tray nor how to reverse the doors. Save these extra plastic bits and screws–they are for reversing the doors.
All in all, this is a good mini fridge. However, keep in mind that my unit arrived quite beat up–there were dents and dings all over the outside of the fridge. Due to the way the company packages the product, with only 1/4" Styrofoam around sides and door, it is likely your unit will arrive with cosmetic damage as well. However, my unit was functional, so as long as you do not mind the damaged exterior, I found this fridge does a good job of keeping foods cold, being easy to clean, and running quiet.
