How Facebook is like Exxon:

In many ways, Facebook is like the Exxon of our time — an indispensable tool that everyone despises — Exxon, maybe Comcast, and now Facebook; there’s not a lot of brands like that. – Moxie Marlinspike

Exxon is still around, though there is growing support and awareness, especially in other countries (Germany), of alternate energy sources. But what awareness and support is there for non-Facebook, non-corporate platforms for the average person? There are options, sure, but I guess that’s easy for me to say. I’m talking about awareness of and support by the mainstream.

David Duchovny interview in the NYTimes:

David Duchovny’s Truth Is Out There, Between Covers A third novel by the actor known for “The X-Files,” “Californication”— and dad rock.

Actor. Novelist. Rock star.

Not bad.

Homing in on a micropost format:

Since this experiment with microblogging started yesterday, I’m starting to get closer to a standard posting format. Each micropost has a title, followed by the post, followed by an HTML HR tag to separate the microposts on the same page. This way I can clearly delimit the microposts, and even be social with a specific one by sending out that hyperlink bookmark.

For those familiar with microblogging, any suggestions or references I should take a look at?
