Memory foam mattresses are wonderful to sleep on, provided there is an extra layer to prevent the mattresses from becoming to warm. The Tulo Foam Mattress, Queen, Firm, is a memory foam mattress with four layers to help you get a great night’s sleep.
The mattress arrived in a box rolled up and vacuum-sealed in plastic. The weight of the box was about 75 pounds–the box is much easier to maneuver with two people. We got the QUEEN size mattress, 80”L X 60”W X 10”H, which arrived in a box 19”L X 19”W X 42”H.
Getting the mattress ready is really easy–essentially there are four steps:
- Place the mattress roll at the end of your bed frame or near your bed where there is space on the floor.
- Carefully cut the first layer of plastic and unroll the mattress.
- Cut the second layer of plastic.
- Let the mattress fully expand.
The mattress comes with a plastic cutter so you can cut the plastic layers without cutting into the mattress fabric.
After the first layer of plastic has been cut you can unroll the mattress. The second layer of plastic around the mattress is vacuum sealed to reduce the mattress volume for shipping. Once this second layer of plastic is cut, you will hear a whoosh of air as the mattress starts expanding. The mattress expanded very quickly–the included picture was taken about 15 minutes after removing all the plastic from the mattress. Though the mattress seemed ready to use, we let it sit in a well-ventilated room overnight.
The mattress itself is wrapped in a soft fabric that can be removed and washed. The mattress comes with a 10 year warranty and a 120-night “comfort” guarantee–see the tulo.com website for more details. All in all, we were impressed with this memory foam mattress. In fact, though we had intended this mattress for the guest room, instead we moved this mattress into our bedroom and moved the previous memory foam mattress (from a different vendor) into the guest room–we liked the one from tulo that much! Unpacking the mattress was very fast and easy. We got the FIRM mattress, which feels very comfortable to us. In fact, I think it’s time for a nap.
